RR-969 Remote Control

The RSX-1065 includes a full-function learn-

ing remote control that can operate the

RSX-1065 plus nine other components.

A separate manual, included with the remote,

gives detailed instructions on programming and

using the RR-969 to replace all of the remote

controls in your system. To avoid duplication,

we provide only basic information about us-

ing the RR-969 to operate the RSX-1065 in this

manual.

Most of the RR-969 functions duplicate the

front-panel controls. For that reason, we will

cover the operating controls on the remote in

the appropriate sections of this manual. Let-

ters in gray boxes next to the name of a func-

tion refers to the labeled illustration of the

remote at the front of this manual.

Using the RR-969

To operate the RSX-1065 with the remote, make

sure that the AUDIO mode is active by press-

ing the AUD button

on the remote before

you start. The AUDIO mode will stay active

until another DEVICE button is pressed.

Programming the RR-969

The RR-969 is preprogrammed to operate the

RSX-1065. Should the AUDIO command set

on your RR-969 not operate the RSX-1065,

the programming may have been changed.

To restore the RSX-1065 programming, press

the recessed PRELOAD button

on the re-

mote with the tip of a ballpoint pen.

NOTE

: Pushing the PRELOAD button will erase

all custom programming and learned com-

mands, restoring the RR-969 to its factory

condition.

Basic Controls

We suggest you look over the RSX-1065’s front

and rear panels before you start connecting

other components. The following explanations

will help you get familiar with the unit’s con-

nections, features, and controls.

Most functions are duplicated on the front-panel

and on the remote. A few are found only on

one or the other. Throughout this manual, num-

bers in gray boxes refer to the RSX-1065 il-

lustration at the front of this manual. Letters refer

to the RR-969 remote illustration. When both

appear, the function is found on both the

RSX-1065 and the remote. When only one ap-

pears, that function is found only on the

RSX-1065 or the remote.

POWER Switch

The front-panel POWER switch on the RSX-1065

is a master power control. It must be pressed

IN for the unit to operate. When it is in the

OUT position, the unit is fully off and cannot

be activated from the remote control. The

POWER switch on the remote functions as a

standby switch, activating or deactivating the

unit. In standby mode, minimal power is still

supplied to memory circuits to preserve set-

tings. When the unit has AC power applied

and the front-panel POWER button is pressed

IN, the front-panel POWER LED lights, regard-

less of whether the unit is in standby mode or

fully-activated in the main room

There are three available power mode options

for the RSX-1065, selected during setup from

an ON-SCREEN DISPLAY menu. The default

DIRECT mode fully activates the unit whenever

AC power is supplied and the front-panel

POWER button is pressed IN; however, the

remote POWER switch can still be used to

activate or deactivate the unit. With the

STANDBY power option, the unit powers up

in standby mode when AC is first applied and

the front-panel POWER button is pressed IN.

The unit must be manually activated with the

remote control POWER button. With the AL-

WAYS-ON power option, the unit is fully op-

erational whenever AC is applied and the front-

panel POWER button is pressed IN. The re-

mote POWER button is disabled.

When using Zone 2, the standby operation

is completely independent for the main room

and Zone 2. The remote control POWER but-

ton will not affect Zone 2. Pressing the

POWER button on a remote located in Zone

2 will only affect that zone and not the main

room. When the unit is activated in ZONE 2,

the ZONE indicator in the front-panel FL DIS-

PLAY is lit.

Remote Sensor

This sensor receives IR signals from the remote

control. Do not block this sensor.

Front-panel Display

The fluorescent (FL) display in the upper por-

tion of the RSX-1065 provides information about

the status of the unit and activation of special

features.

See the illustration at the front of this manual

for the location of each section of the display:

Listening Source

displays the current

input source selected for listening.

Recording Source

displays the current

input source selected for recording.

Status Display

shows a range of infor-

mation depending on the current operating

mode. For example, when the tuner is selected,

this section of the display shows tuning infor-

mation and/or RDS information. When other

sources are selected, the surround sound mode

will be displayed. Additionally, other informa-

tion may be displayed briefly when a feature

is activated.

Volume information

shows the current

volume setting and/or mute status.

Icons

appear along the left side and the

bottom of the display. These indicate when

special features are activated and assist in the

operation of the unit.

The FL display can be turned off, if desired.

See the MENU button section for instructions.

Volume Control

The VOLUME control adjusts the level of all

output channels. Rotate the front-panel control

clockwise to increase the volume, counterclock-

wise to decrease. The RR-969 remote has VOL-

UME UP and DOWN buttons.

When you adjust the volume, a digital read-

out appears in the front-panel display and the

new setting appears on your TV monitor.

NOTE

: The VOLUME control can be used to

change the volume in Zone 2. Press the front-

panel ZONE button and adjust the volume.

After 10 seconds, the VOLUME control re-

verts to normal operation.

MUTE Button

Push the MUTE button once to turn the sound

off. An indication appears in the front-panel

and on-screen displays. Press the button again

to restore previous volume levels.

5. RADIO TEXT. Rullande textmeddelande som

sänds från aktuell radiostation. Om stationen

sänder radio text data lyser en indikator,

RT och den rullande texten i displayen. Om

den aktuella stationen ej sänder en RDS-

signal visas texten ”NO TEXT DATA” i

displayen.

PTY-knapp

Sökfunktionen, PTY, ger dig möjlighet att söka

efter tillgängliga stationer med RDS sändningar

som sänder en speciell programtyp.

1. Tryck på PTY-knappen. Nu visas den

aktuella programtypen i displayen som

sänds i RDS-sändningen.

2. Om man önskar byta till en annan

programtyp använd TUNING UP/DOWN-

knapparna för att söka i listan för de olika

programtyperna.

3. Tryck på PTY-knappen en andra gång inom

5 sekunder. Radion försöker nu hitta en

annan RDS-station som sänder den valda

programtypen. Om knappen inte trycks ned

inom 5 sekunder efter det att man valt en

programtyp blir PTY-funktionen ej aktiv.

4. Om PTY-funktionen inte hittar en station med

den valda programtypen återgår den till

den senast lokaliserade stationen.

5. Avbryt PTY-funktionen genom att trycka på

vilken annan knapp som helst.

OBS

! Om den aktuella stationen sänder PTY

data lyser det en indikator, PTY, i displayen.

TP-knapp

Söker efter en RDS-station som sänder

trafikinformation.

1. Tryck på TP-knappen. Radion försöker att

hitta en station som sänder

traffikinformation. Om en station hittats lyser

en indikator TP, i displayen.

2. Om ingen station hittats återgår radion till

den senast hittade stationen.

3. Avbryt TP-funktionen genom att trycka på

vilken annan knapp som helst.

TA-knapp

Söker efter en RDS-station som sänder

trafikinformation.

1. Tryck på TA-knappen. Radion försöker hitta

en station som sänder trafikinformation.

2. Om ingen station hittats återgår radion till

den senast hittade stationen.

3. Avbryt TA-funktionen genom att trycka på

vilken annan knapp som helst.

Anslutningar: Översikt

RSX-1065 anslutningar är standard RCA in-

och utgångar, Komposit Video in- och utgångar,

S-Video in- och utgångar, Komponent Video

ingångar, Koaxial in- och utgångar och Optiska

in- och utgångar.

RSX-1065 har RCA ”preamp” audioutgång

(lågnivå ut) för för anslutning till externa slutsteg

liksom Komposit Video, S-Video och

Komponent Video utgångar för anslutning till

TV alternativt till Projektor.

RSX-1065 har även MULTI-kanals anslutningar,

en IR-sensor för fjärrkontrollen och två 12V

”triggers” för startsignal till externa Rotel

produkter (slutsteg m.m.).

OBS

! Anslut inte någon apparat i ditt HiFi-

system till ett strömuttag förrän alla

anslutningar är korrekt gjorda.

Videokablar, (bildkablar), skall ha 75 ohms

impedans. Gränssittet för digital audio, S/PDIF,

har 75 ohms impedans och alla digitala kablar

av god kvalitet håller den standarden. Då Video

och S/PDIF standarderna är så nära varandra,

kan man använda en videokabel till digital

audioöverföring. Vi avråder starkt att använda

audiokablar av standardtyp för överföring av

digitala audiosignaler eller videosignaler.

Audiokablar av standard typ förmedlar dessa

signaler men bandbredden reducerar kvalitén.

Vid anslutning av signalkablar, anslut vänster

kanal, (LEFT), till vänster kanals ingång och

höger kanal, (RIGHT), till höger kanals ingång.

Alla RCA-anslutningar är enligt följande

standard:

Vänster audiokanal: vit RCA kontakt

Höger audiokanal: röd RCA kontakt

Komposit video: gul RCA kontakt

OBS

! Varje ingång måste vara rätt

konfigurerad med hjälp av ”INPUT MENU” i

”ON SCREEN” menyn. Vi rekommenderar

att man gör detta efter det att man anslutit

sina komponenter till RSX-1065. Se mer i

avsnittet om INPUT MENU.

Videoanslutningar

RSX-1065 har S-Video och Komponent

Videoanslutningar för de tillfällen som man

önskar använda dem. Dock ger standard

Komposit Videokablar hög kvalitet på

bildsignalen i de flesta system och genom att

använda dessa i alla in- och utgångar för

bildsignaler underlättar man installation och

konfiguration av RSX-1065.

On Screen Menu Display: RSX-1065s

menysystem på skärmen, ON SCREEN, är

tillgänglig för ALLA ingångar när man använder

Komposit eller S-Videokablar från TV

MONITOR utgången på RSX-1065 till TV

apparaten. ON SCREEN menyn är INTE

tillgänglig när man använder Komponent

Videokablar.

System Set-Up: Systeminställningar bör

göras när man använder Komposit eller S-

Videokablar. Koppla RSX-1065 till TV eller

Projektor via TV MONITOR out. Välj OSD (ON

SCREEN menyn) från fjärrkontrollen RR-969

för att fullfölja systeminställningarna.

OBS

! På en standard PAL TV-mottagare visas

ON SCREEN menyn endast om det finns en

Videosignal aktiverad oavsett vilken

videokabel som används. Vid system-

inställning, anslut videoutgången från din

DVD-spelare och välj motsvarande

videoingång på RSX-1065. ON SCREEN

menyn läggs då ”över” videosignalen från

DVD-spelaren.

Komposit och S-Video: Systemet bör

anslutas med antingen Komposit Videokablar

på ALLA videoanslutningar eller antingen med

S-Video kablar på ALLA videoanslutningar. En

S-Videosignal från en källa kan ej skickas vidare

som Komposit video från RSX-1065s TV

MONITOR utgång. Omvänt gäller också att

en Komposit videosignal kan ej skickas vidare

som en S-Videosignal från RSX-1065s TV

MONITOR utgång. Därför kan Komposit och

S-Videosignaler ej ”mixas” ihop i ett system.

Dock kan både Komposit och S-Videokablar

vara anslutna från RSX-1065s TV MONITOR

utgång till en TV eller en Projektors Komposit

och S-Videoingångar samtidigt. Denna dubbla

anslutning från RSX-1065 ger begränsade

möjligheter med S-Video i ett system med

övervägande Komposit videoanslutningar.

När både Komposit och S-Videokablar är

inkopplade från samma källa, är både

Komposit och S-Video tillgängliga i RSX-1065s
